Your Exalead one:desktop product is not yet started.

Hello,

I've an fresh installation from Exalead Desktop 4.6.

If I wan't to open properties (http://127.0.0.1:17500/preferences) or Exelad Search (http://127.0.0.1:17500/search/mypcSearch?q=), the error "Your Exalead one:desktop product is not yet started. Please use link in MS Windows start menu to launch it." is shown.

Reboot or close/reopen Exalead doesn't solve the problem.

What could I do?

index network drives

When each workstation starts indexing network drives, there will be some significant load on the network. Hypothetically, a server could also run exalead and generate a server-based index (local to the server). Now, I wonder if it would be possible to integrate such a server-based index with Exalead client PC (end-user) and if this would reduce the network load generated by Exalead (I assume 10 to 100 PCs updating their indexes of network drives would not add too much load, but 1000 would...).

- better control over time waited until indexing resumes - (I would set it to 2 seconds, not 30).
- save searches
- watch saved searches via RSS: watch a folder for new or changed documents
- list view: provide 1-line-per-found document view, with icons for document type, document name
- allow to group results according to location, file tape, date
- simple date search: last week, last x days, between x and y, etc.

Exalead 4.6 will not search

I have just installed the latest 4.6 desktop It first uninstalled the 4.5 before installing. It completed indexing, but when I attempt a search it opens my browser with the message "Click on Windows start to start exalead" and this
url appears "http://127.0.0.11...rch/mypcSearchq=" However nothing happens.
4.5 worked perfectly
Can anyone help?

Hello,

I'm encountering a weird problem :
When I type in a search query with a double space, I get a
"Our servers are busy, please try again later." error.

For example :
1. if I search for "a test" I get results
2. but if I search for "a test" I get that error.

Strange...

Back to 4.5 or preview pane below result list

Is there any way to go back to desktop version 4.5? (Or add a preview pane below the results list?

I love the new look, but the feature I used the most was rapidly previewing docs - now I have to move between pages rather than just clicking the next document to preview - slows down the process.

Also, can you add the icons back to the Source list? It is easier to tell the sources apart by icon than by text.

it would be nice if exalead would also index mail clients like Eudora

New tag-cloud in Narrow-Your-Search

I hope Exalead decides to bring back the "old" narrow-your search sidebar, and leave the tag-cloud as a per-user option only.

I appreciate the intuitive nature of a tag-cloud, but now your site is more like every other site which i have grown so tired of 'tag' and 'share' this and 'cloud' that. I realize that may sound crass, but in all seriousness-- your previous "exclude" design was indeed MUCH more efficient for narrowing a search to produce favourable, and even-- less-common, but perhaps better sites hosting never-before-seen material. THAT, i thought was the real beauty of Exalead.

Create a Public Profile with a Short Address

How about providing users a shorter Public Profile address like in most "social network" sites which is all over the net these days.

This can also bring more traffic to Exalead.

I want to share my shortcuts to my friends..
I think "exalead.com/avibot" will look more interesting and easy enough to remember than "http://feedback.exalead.com/users/170688"

Thumbnailes automatic arrangement annoying

As subject says it *can be* annoying when thumbnailes are arranged automatic. That makes it very difficult to arrange a 5x4 boxes in an order you like.

Exalead:Desktop search mail with Authors and Attachments keyword

There are two key things that are missing from the Exalead:Desktop. Specifying in the query Authors and Attachments. The data for both are already there so I think that are easy to add.

I would think everyone would love to be able to search for:

/foo|bar/ source:"outlook" Authors:Dave* hasAttachment:true

Maybe it's already there but for the life of me I can't find it.

When entering the search term 'songroom', the resulting list displays the site 'www.songroom.co.uk' over the sponsored entry, rendering them both unreadable. It appears that the error is specific to IE7 as I have checked the results with the latest versions of Firefox, Opera and Safari without error.

I attempted to send this report via the 'help us improve' link on the main search page, but the form returns a 'no such mail box error'. In addition, the blog 'Administrator' link returns a 404 error.

1. Saving bookmarks to exalead.com, with keywords that were used to find the result(s). In similiar fashion as: Myweb, Google Bookmarks and Myask.

2.News search.

3. Free email + pop3 + smtp free like google.

The current shortcut thing is nice for few bookmarks. But it is tedious on the page when many.
