Hi Michael,
I think I understand your idea, but I'm still not sure it's a good one, so please convince me !
Why do you think it would be useful to differentiate websites according to the concepts (e.g. wiki) they're using ?
As I understand your pointing out the fact that some people may not like wikis, I guess this is because of the policies used and matters of accuracy and objectivity in large group of contributors. If it's not for this reason, please explain for which reason people may "hate them".
There is many types of wikis, and even wikis with a unique contributor, so how would you make the difference between wikis ? There is also unidentified wikis, such as custom designed wikis that does not rely on popular wiki solutions (i.e: a personal wiki application with ruby on rails).

I think this would be a good idea, but I'm not sure this is feasible.

At least the option to search directly in encyclopaedias such as wikipedia and so on would be desirable (as it's done in exalead's big brother g****), I think. But I don't know if there is already a suggestion or even a ready solution for this, I'm not very familiar with this feedback area atm.

You can already do this by typing "site:wikipedia.org my keywords" in the searchbox. However I do agree it could be good to have the options "web | images | wikipedia | plus"

No, not only wikipedia - i mean there could be a function searching in all greater encyclopaedias (e. britannica, for german users brockhaus, etc). Wheras wikipedia is predestinated for higher ranking search results.

Hello,
First, sorry Mathieu - that I had no time to answer jet!

1. Yes, I know that this wouldn't be a perfect solution! And yes - there are some wikis which were written with other software. But - imagine the classification of sites in exalead (made with dmoz.org) is also NOT available for ALL sites - but for some - and for this sites this is a great function! So what I want to say is: when you can't do something perfect - that's no reason not to do!

2. Why I want this? Well, I mean that the web is moving: it's no longer "read only" - cause of Web 2.0 and wikis, it's becoming more and more "write-able"! You understand? So by a new, good, modern search engine the user should not only able just to search for informations - the user should also be possible to search for locations, where he self can write, to help others.
on the other side, there is that some people don't trust those sites - they should be possible just to search for information witch was made in traditional way.

3. @Marko: That's not just for encyclopedias! There are also Wikis at a lot of other areas.

4. "Mathieu - the 2nd comment": Nice Idea!

Searching through just wiki databases or trusted wiki sites from trusted wikis around the world would be the only solution, i mean so many wiki environments exist it would not be very sufficient to search through numerous amounts of wiki's that deal with generally the same information everyone else has or the wiki ends up having information that isn't moderated by a trusted moderator or admin. It is true about wiki's in other areas, because i have noticed that every single site i go to now has a wiki type database. Even in the corporate world a lot of projects and correspondences with updates to projects are built through wiki systems. Seems like a crazy reach, but i mean if you could grasp enough trustworthy sources then the information pool would be endless. Thats for sure.
