Same here. Even when disconnected and firewall set to allow all traffic. Installed on another PC, also XP, there it worked. What is going on?

had the same experience at home - which is a very similar setup compared to the one @work (XP SP2, FF3). Wonder what is going on. I deactivated my firewall (pulled the plug on the internet) - no effect.

Thomas

I have received several email from Exalead, but as yet they have not come up with a solution.

Will keep you posted.

This issue may be caused by the ExaleadDesktop Redirector that is normally only used on terminal server to emulate several instances of the same one:desktop.

What I would advise is that you deactivate the Redirector:

1.Stop your exalead one:desktop (right click on one:desktop icon in the notification area and "Quit")
2.Stop the ExaleadDesktop Redirector service (control panel>administrative tools> Services and stop ExaleadDesktop Redirector)
3.Change the ExaleadDesktop Redirector startup type and set it to manual (same route as above. Right click on the ExaleadDesktop Redirector select properties - on the General tab change the startup type to manual.)
4.Start your Exalead one:desktop.

I believe this should solve the issue. Let me know if the problem still persists

Thank you for your help

I reinstalled exalead, rebooted, did what you advised as above, rebooted again, but when I left click on exalead it still opens my firefox browser with this message.

"Security issue !

The search application can only be displayed on the host on which it's installed".

So I am afraid there is still some compatability problem

I have the same problem on Vista. Either I would get no response at all (after waiting for a couple minutes), or the same message about it needing to be started as Colin reported.

I did the procedure outlined by Administrator and now get this message, both with and without my firewall running:

Security issue !

The search application can only be displayed on the host on which it's installed.

I have had several email from Exaled, even downloading and installing an update, but the program still did not work.

In the end I just uninstalled and now use another product.
If an answer is found I will give it another try.

I had the same issue and following this "disable redirector" solution I got out of trouble. One issue however, is that on this is disabled, I can only use exalead with the windows account I used to install. My wife cannot use the search with her vista account...
