Short comment about Exalead’s CEO thoughts on profiling capabilities at the finger’s ends of Search Engines (see this post http://letters.computing.co.uk/2007/08/not-looking-goo.html )

Comment:

1. Is the threat is actually the level of details of users’ profile gathered … OR the fact that those information are monetized without our consent? In other words, can we blame the Googlefolks to prepare the ground to innovative business habits?

2. More importantly, François said in his latest paragraph that (private) COMPANIES in EU are not allowed to manipulate/store private data, understand in the subtext that … Gov. organizations ARE!

So, can Quaero be a workaround? (joke!?)

Exalead search engine should have a
Sidebar Gadgets for News on their homepage.
so we can be aware of the Exalead news, in additon to that to have world news as well.

I would like to use Exalead to search news from a limited set of RSS sources to track sentiment.

Pourquoi pas mettre une page actualités sur le site et faire une personnalisation si la personne veut...

A news link like google's one would be a great idea. I like to browse news when I'm bored and this function would be great for Exalead.
